Man thrashed by youth harassing daughter

A man was allegedly beaten up with an iron rod when he tried to stop a youth from harassing his daughter, the police said on Monday.
Sundar, who lives in Jharsentli, lodged a complaint that one of his neighbours, Lekhraj, used to tease his 16-year old daughter, the police said.
When the victim Sundar expressed opposition to this, the accused Lekhraj beat him mercilessly with an iron rod, injuring his severely, and even threatened to kill him, according to the complaint lodged with the police.
The police has registered a case and launched a probe into the incident.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a man allegedly set his wife on fire after she refused to give him divorce in Mujeshar village in the district, the police said here on Monday.
The accused Meherchand poured kerosene on his wife Malti and set her ablaze when she was alone at her mother’s home, the police officer said, adding, that he then fled from the scene.
On hearing Malti’s screams, her neighbours rushed to her help and doused the fire and immediately took her to hospital with severe burns, the police said.
The police has lodged a case against Meherchand and started investigation.

4 metro stations closed today

Metro services will be available at Rajiv Chowk metro station contrary to the earlier announcement that it will remain closed due to Beating Retreat ceremony.
Earlier, it was announced that due to security reasons, the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station will not be accessible to commuters from 3 pm to 6 pm except for interchange on January 29. But the station will remain open.
However, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhavan and Race Course Metro stations will be shut from 3 pm to 6.30 pm on Tuesday.
Interchange of passengers from Line 2 (Jahangirpuri to HUDA City Centre) to Line 6 (Central Secretariat to Badarpur) and vice versa will be allowed at Central Secretariat.
