MBA from London held for cloning SDM’s card
The Delhi police has arrested a 24-year-old management graduate from London University for allegedly cloning the ATM card of a sub-divisional magistrate and withdrawing money from his salary account.
The police said the accused, Mukul Garg, who hails from Ludhiana, and holds an MBA degree from London University, was arrested from Mukherjee Nagar on Wednesday following investigations into a complaint filed on May 26 by Hauz Khaz SDM Pravesh Ranjan Jha, who complained that someone had withdrawn money from his salary account in SBI’s Vijay Nagar branch.
The case registered under Section 420 (cheating) of the IPC was transferred to Mukherjee Nagar. “Garg had purchased some expensive articles and withdrawn around `4 lakhs through a cloned ATM card of Mr Jha. He got the serial number of ATM cards from some websites and used cloned cards to buy expensive articles which he sold cheap. He has withdrawn money from the accounts of a number of people,” a senior police official said.
“He was earlier arrested in February in a case of cheating but was released on bail,” the official said.
