MCD drive hits 3 banks, 11 properties
Continuing with its sealing and demolition driver, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Thursday pulled the shutters on at least three nationalised banks, besides demolishing at least 11 other properties. The sealing and demolition exercise was carried out in areas like Greater Kailash-I and Kalkaji/ Girinagar areas of south Delhi.
The sealing and demolition squad of the central zone, under which these areas fall, sealed the premises of Bank of Baroda located at the posh M-Block market in Greater Kailash-I. Also, the premises of two other banks — Punjab National Bank (B-73, GK-I) and Axis Bank (E-64, GK-I) — were also sealed by the MCD.
Further, several saloons, ice-cream manufacturing factory and other commercial establishments in Girinagar (Kalkaji) area were demolished for violating the norms as per Master Plan for Delhi-1983.
Demolition of various floors were also carried out in places like Friends colony, Vishwakarma Colony, Sangam Vihar, Govindpuri and Sunlight Colony-II, all located in the central zone.
