MCD files report in 2 CWG cases
The MCD officials on Tuesday said that the civic agency has submitted reports related to the independent quality inspection of two of its projects related to the Commonwealth Games.
At least three projects of the MCD are under the scanner of the Central Vigilance Commission and, in one case, the CBI has already registered a case. The MCD said that six officials have already been suspended in this regard.
Chairman of the MCD’s works committee, Jagdish Mamgain said that in connection with the street-lighting, which is being probed by the CBI, the MCD has suspended six officials, including two superintendent engineers about a month ago.
Mr Mamgain said that regarding the other two projects, the bus parking bay developed after covering of Kushak nullah in south Delhi and the road under-bridge at Sewa Nagar, the CVC had raised questions about third party quality inspection of the works.
“The MCD got the third party quality test done regularly and we have submitted all the details about this to the CVC,” said Mr Mamgain.
He added that thus while action has been taken in one case, in the other two the queries have been answered.
Further, said Mr Mamgain, the agency was ready to provide information whenever needed in relation to any other project.
The CVC had sought replies in connection with all the cases by October 31.
