MCD to forego road work soon
With the Commonwealth Games now dangerously close and several event-related works still incomplete, the MCD has decided to get into the “wrap up” mode in the road improvement and street-scaping work.
Talking to this newspaper, Delhi mayor P.R. Sawhney said that the department concerned has been asked to complete as much work as possible and leave it at that, thereafter. “At various places, the road cutting and cable laying is still on. We cannot keep on filling the dug up streets till the last moment,” he said.
The mayor added that work in Karol Bagh and Paharganj zones remained, which was largely on account of continuous road cutting and cable-laying work. “Delhi urban development minister had given an ultimatum to the cable laying agencies not to cut the roads after August 20. But it is continuing even now,” said Mr Sawhney.
