MCD mulls veterinary hub with multi-facility
The MCD is planning to use a plot of land, reclaimed from encroachment, to develop a veterinary hub with facilities for pig slaughter, canine cremation, sterilisation centre, horse pond and a veterinary dispensary.
Municipal commissioner K.S. Mehra, during his budget speech on Wednesday, announced that the hub will be developed at Mukundpur, where 27 acres of MCD land has been freed from encroachment. “So far, there was not a single place where the canines could be cremated. Also, it may be used for various veterinary purposes,” said Mr Mehra. Among other things, the MCD is planning to undertake an ambitious project to make Rajan Babu Institute into a multi-speciality facility under the PPP mode.
Besides, facilities for treating at least 3,000 out-patient department patients and 1,200 additional beds in hospitals at Fatehpuri Beri and Lajpat Nagar will also be undertaken.
