The MCD also removed nearly 300-350 temporary structures from Gurdwara Road, Madangir, in south Delhi. The encroachments were in the form of extensions and projections on public land using tin or corrugated sheets and sheds that had been built unauthorisedly on public land.
In the west zone, action was taken against 25 properties in D-Block, Raghuvir Nagar, where the encroachments were in the form of rooms, toilets and staircases constructed on municipal land.
Several extensions and projections that fell in the “right of way” were also demolished. The action was taken in pursuance of court order dated September 15. The MCD team had to face stiff resistance by the residents while carrying out the exercise.
