MCD schools to be closed till Thursday

The MCD on Thursday said that on account of extreme cold conditions, its primary schools will remain closed from January 9 to January 13. Meanwhile, despite slight improvement in the maximum and minimum temperatures, cold wave conditions continued to prevail in the city.

According to the MCD education committee chairman, Mahender Nagpal, the schools had earlier been closed from December 25 to January 9 and will now not open till January 13 due to extreme cold conditions. “The situation would be re-assessed on January 12,” he said.
Meanwhile, the city recorded maximum and minimum temperatures at 14.5º Celsius (six degrees below normal) and 5.3º Celsius (two degrees below normal), respectively, on Thursday. The weather conditions on Friday are likely to remain similar with fog in the morning but mainly clear sky through the day.
