MCD students to get glove money
The MCD plans to give cash assistance to the Class 1 to 3 students in its primary schools for buying woollens caps and gloves during the winter season. At least 5.5 lakh students are expected to be benefited.
According to the chairman of the education committee, Mahinder Nagpal, this amount would be in addition to `500 given to each student for purchasing winter uniform. Mr Nagpal said that the amount would be spent from the corpus of `1 crore given to him in his capacity as the chairman of the education committee. He added that the money to nearly 10 lakh students for their winter jerseys has already been disbursed.
Meanwhile, the MCD on Monday removed around 300 shops in the “Katran Market” in an anti-encroachment drive.
