Medicine student hangs self
A 27-year-old medical student allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room at Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Hospital on Thursday evening, apparently depressed over his failing health condition.
The deceased student, identified as Archit Arora, hailed from Roorkee in Uttarakhand, the police said on Friday.
Arora, a diabetic, was found hanging in his room by his friends at around 9 pm on Thursday after they barged into his hostel room when he did not respond to their repeated calls.
According to sources, Arora had not ben attending his classes for the past couple of days and the incident came to light when his friends went to his room to check on him.
Arora is suspected to have been depressed over his deteriorating medical condition.
Arora left a suicide note in which he claimed that he was taking the extreme step, the police said.
He also said in the note that he loves his sister and father and that nobody except him should be held responsible for his death, said police sources.
The police is waiting for his parents to arrive from Roorkee before getting the post-mortem conducted.
