Members move HC?for entry
Members of the Siri Fort Sports Complex here on Tuesday filed a petition in the Delhi high court challenging the decision of the DDA to close the sports complex keeping till Commonwealth Games.
Advocate Atul Wadhera, through his counsel R.K. Saini, filed the petition in the court of Justice S. Muralidhar, who converted the writ petition into a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and referred it to a division bench comprising Delhi high court Chief Justice Dipak Mishra and Justice Manmohan for hearing on Wednesday.
Terming the move of the DDA as “illegal and arbitrary,” Mr Wadhera claimed that the closure of the complex for two months is “illegal, unwarranted and unjust” as the complex would be used only for badminton during Games.
The Siri Fort sports complex has been closed for general public on account of Commonwealth games since August 16.
The petitioner further stated that closing the whole complex and denying use of facilities to the members for an indefinite period with effect from August 16 onwards for a period of at least two months is illegal, arbitrary...And violative of fundamental rights.
