Merchant Navy student kills self

A 20-year-old Merchant Navy student committed suicide at his hostel in east Delhi’s Uttam Nagar on Tuesday afternoon, apparently after allegedly facing harassment at his hostel.

The police officials said that the deceased Suneel, a resident of Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district, was found hanging in his hostel room in Om Vihar, Phase II, Uttam Nagar, by the hostel officials at around 3 pm. A team of police rushed to the spot for investigations. “Suneel was hanging from the ceiling fan and a suicide note was recovered from his possession,” a senior police official said. Sources claimed that the hostel authorities wanted to cover up the matter which came to the notice of some locals.
The police rushed Suneel to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. The suicide note recovered from the deceased has stated that the deceased’s warden used to harass him for petty issues and had even thrashed him on several occasions.

11-yr-old run over by truck

June 1: A 11-year-old boy was crushed to death by a speeding truck in the Nangloi area of west Delhi on Monday night when he was returning home after attending a marriage party.
The police official said the incident took place in Nangloi at around 12.15 am. The officials said the deceased, identified as Mahender, was crossing the road with his elder brother when an unidentified truck, which was allegedly speeding, hit the him.
The police said a pedestrian alerted the police control room and Mahender was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead The truck driver managed to escape from the spot with the vehicle. Manhunt has been launched to arrest him. The police has registered a case of death due to negligence at Nangloi police station.
