Mercury at 15ºC, Met predicts rain
The chill in the capital continued to be on the rise with the minimum temperature on Thursday being recorded at 15 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature, recorded at 30.2º Celsius, is likely to come down further in the next couple of days. The chill factor in the outer areas of the city and some localities in the districts around Delhi was higher than that of the main city areas.
According to a weather department spokesperson, the maximum temperature was two degrees less than the average, while the minimum temperature was one degree less than average. The maximum and minimum humidity were recorded at 87 per cent and 28 per cent, respectively. The weather department said that slight mist would be a regular feature in the morning and evening, while the sky will remain clear through the day.
In the northern and northwestern parts of the city, the chill factor was noticeably more than the rest of the city, said the weatherman.
Meanwhile, in neighbouring area of Hindon in Ghaziabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 12.7º Celsius. However, the minimum temperature in Indirapuram and Noida was recorded at 17 º Celsius.
The city may witness rain in the next couple of days that may lower the maximum temperature. The weather forecast predicts Friday to be partly cloudy and some rain on Saturday. The maximum and minimum temperatures would continue to be in the range of 31ºC to 29ºC and 15 to 16 degrees, respectively.
The minimum temperature in the city has been dropping sharply since early this week, indicating early onset of winter, which is likely to linger longer this season.
