Mercury at 6.2ºC, chill to mount
Delhiites shivered on Saturday with the city recording the coldest day of the season as chilly winter winds swept across the capital through the day.
There is also no respite for the people ahead as the Met department stated that the mercury would further dip and chilly winter conditions would continue.
“The minimum temperature dipped by 2.5 degree to 6.2 degree Celsius, the season’s lowest so far. This was three degrees below normal as well. The maximum temperature also dipped to 20.4 degree Celsius, four degrees below normal. The maximum was recorded at 21.3 degrees on Friday,” stated the Met department.
The Met department officials further said that Sunday would bring no respite for people.
“Sunday will again be a nippy day. Though the skies will remain clear, there will be a light blanket of fog in the early morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to settle below normal at 21 and 8 degrees Celsius,” said Met officials.
The Met department officials also stated that Delhi could see the minimum temperature dipping to as low as five degrees Celsius by Monday.
However, Delhi is still far away from the beating the record of the lowest-ever minimum temperature for December, which was 1.1 degree Celsius on December 26, 1945.
