Metro service till Badarpur now
The Sarita Vihar-Badarpur stretch of the Delhi Metro became operational on Friday morning, adding five kilometres more to the existing network.
The stretch will benefit the commuters of Faridabad, a satellite town in neighbouring Haryana. This stretch has three stations, Mohan Estate, Tughlakabad and Badarpur.
The inaugural run was conducted at 8 am. From Saturday, the Metro will run 6 am onwards. With the opening of this stretch, the footfalls on the Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor will increase to 2.25 lakhs from the current 1.25 lakhs.
“Four additional standard gauge trains with a peak hour frequency of four minutes will be pressed into service, thereby increasing the total number of trains to 20 to handle the rush,” the DMRC said.
