MHA official’s phone stolen from office

The mobile phone of a joint secretary, ministry of home affairs, was stolen from her Lok Nayak Bhavan office here, the police said on Friday.
The official, Rashmi Goel, joint secretary (human rights), ministry of home affairs, lodged a complaint at the Tughlaq Road police station on Thursday informing that her mobile phone of Samsung make was stolen from her office chamber. The police did not reveal if any sensitive information was stored on the stolen mobile. Sources said her office is in Room No 16, First Floor, Lok Nayak Bhavan, near Khan Market. “The official had gone out for lunch. When she came back, she found her mobile missing. She inquired from her staff about the phone but they feigned ignorance after which she lodged a complaint,” the source said.
The police has registered a case at the Tughlaq Road police station. “We are investigating. We will call the staff for questioning. The CCTV footage from the office is being scrutinised. So far no one has been arrested,” a senior police official said.

Eco-friendly Metro feeder service starts

A fleet of battery-powered, pollution-free rickshaws was inducted into the city’s transport system on Friday to provide eco-friendly feeder services to Metro commuters. The service, modelled on the lines of similar services in Tokyo, New York and Berlin, was launched by chief minister Sheila Dikshit.
The first cluster of the 25 rickshaws will operate between Malviya Nagar Metro Station and Select City Walk Mall. The promoter of the project Green Wheels Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of the Argentum Group, plans to introduce 5,000 vehicles, branded as G-Rik, within next 15 months.
The company has put in a place a ticketing system with a fixed cost of `10 per passenger per ride.
