Mini-truck crushes traffic cop
A mini truck mowed down a 27-year-old Delhi traffic police constable when he was on vehicle checking duty in Punjabi Bagh area of West Delhi.
A senior police official said the incident took place around 7.30 am on Saturday near a petrol pump on Outer Ring Road.
The deceased constable, identified as Aryan Bhushan, was on vehicle checking duty with other traffic policemen when he met with the accident.
The traffic police team had indicated a mini truck to stop to check documents.
“The driver of the mini-truck slowed down and was stopping the vehicle when constable Aryan who was going behind the vehicle got crushed under the rear wheels. No one saw how did the incident took place. Bhushan’s both leg got crushed. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed during treatment on Saturday night. Doctors said that died due to excessive bleeding,” said the police official.
The official said the driver of the vehicle fled from the spot leaving the mini-truck behind. An FIR has been registered in this respect.
“The accused driver is absconding. We have impounded the vehicle,” said the police official.
