MLA alleges scam in hi-tech parking

An NDMC member and BJP MLA Karan Singh Tanwar on Thursday levelled serious allegations against the civic body officers for providing NDMC land worth crores of rupees for just `37 lakhs to DLF Builders for multi-level parking. Mr Tanwar sought intervention of the Prime Minister and demanded a CBI probe into the wrongdoings.
According to Mr Kanwar, the land on which multi-storied parking is being made on Baba Kharag Singh Marg and the one in Sarojini Nagar were leased out to profit DLF Builders for just `15 lakhs and `22 lakhs for 30 years.
“The priceless land in Sarojini Nagar market measuring 3,783 square meter and at Baba Kharag Singh Marg measuring 6,085 sq meters, which costs trillions of rupees, has been leased out to DLF Builders only for `15-22 lakhs. The multilevel parking built by the same builder in Sarojini Nagar was meant for the CWG 2010, however it was completed an year after the Games and is still not working,” Mr Kanwar said.
He also alleged that the multilevel parking at Sarojini Nagar, inaugurated with a lot of pomp and show, was not operational from the first day.
“The parking remains out of order mostly from the day it was inaugurated. Ms Dikhsit and Union urban development minister Kamal Nath praised the NDMC officers and the builders for the achievement but actually the parking is not working. The so-called hi-tech parking remain closed for 4-5 hours a day causing trouble to the vehicle owners who unfortunately park their vehicles in the parking,” he added.
He alleged that there is a big scam in the building process of the multi level parking in both places.
“When I tried to draw the attention of Ms Dikshit and Mr Nath on the day of inauguration, they did not bother to listen to my points. While the private builder is going richer by trillions of rupees, the exchequer of the country is being robbed,” he alleged.
