Monsoon showers keep city cool
The city continued to receive rain on the second day of monsoon hitting the city with nearly 16 mm of rain being recorded on Tuesday. It got very dark in a couple of areas where it rained heavily leading to waterlogging. A total of 55 complaints of water logging were received by the MCD control rooms.
According to the weatherman, 15.8 mm of rain was recorded in the 12 hours ending at 5.30 pm. Overnight, the city recorded 1.6 mm of rain. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Tuesday were recorded at 32.7 degrees (which was three degrees below normal) and 25.8 degrees (two degrees below normal). The humidity level was almost as high as it was on Monday with the maximum and minimum being recorded at 95 per cent and 75 per cent respectively.
The weatherman has forecast more rains in the city, with one or two areas likely to experience heavy rains through the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain around 35 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius.
As per MCD figures, the maximum number of waterlogging complaints were received from Rohini (13), followed by South zone (11). West zone received nine complaints, while in Karol Bagh there were six complaints.
Five complaints each were received from Civil Lines and Central Zone. Najafgarh (3), Sadar Paharganj (2) and Shahdara (south) were the other zones from where complaints of water logging was received. No complaints were received from City, Shahdara (North) and Narela zones.
