More PCR vans, police stations to check crime
The Delhi police plans to deploy more police control room vans and increase the number of police stations in the outer districts of the capital.
During an interaction with media on the Raising Day Parade, Delhi police commissioner B.K. Gupta said, “Vigilance would be increased in outer Delhi areas as they are more crime prone. Delhi police will soon get 75 new police control room (PCR) vans.”
“We will deploy most of them in outer Delhi areas like Dwarka in southwest Delhi, Okhla in south Delhi, Narela in north Delhi and in northwest district areas,” Mr Gupta said. Two or three new police stations are likely to come up in Dwarka and Okhla.
When asked about the spurt in crime against women and children in the city and recent media reports on law-and-order situation, the police chief added: “The crime rates are low as compared to many other metropolitan cities. The media has created this hype but the police is making good effort to tackle crime against women.”
“Starting with the Commonwealth Games to the upcoming World Cup, the police personnel in the city are always alert and we are keeping a strict vigil in the city,” Mr Gupta said.
