Muthoot branch robbers arrested
The crime branch has arrested three members of an organised gang who were allegedly involved in carrying out a broad daylight robbery at east Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar branch of Muthoot Finance on May 10.
The accused identified as Rahul, 20, Satish, 25 and Mahender, 40, were arrested from New Kondli bridge following an anonymous tip-off given to the police on Monday. Four other members of the gang identified as Satpal, Rohtash Chouhan, Raj Kishore and Pradeep Tiwari are absconding. The police has recovered part of the looted jewellery, one revolver, two knives and two live cartridges from their possession.
The accused had barged into Muthoot Finance’s east Delhi office and held the staff and customers hostage before escaping with `1.5 lakh cash and gold worth crores of rupees, “During investigations, it was revealed that Rahul, Mahender, Satpal Singh, Raj Kishore, Pradeep Tiwari and Rohtash were involved in planning the dacoity,” Ashok Chand, deputy commissioner of police, crime, said.
“The accused had conducted recce of the area before carrying out the robbery. They met near Karawal Nagar on May 10 and proceeded to commit dacoity on a car and a motorcycle. Mahender, Satpal and Kishore entered the premises of Muthoot Finance while Rohtash kept a watch near the staircase,” Mr Chand said.
