Navy sailor jumps off highrise
A 23-year-old Navy sailor allegedly jumped to death from the eighth floor of a building in Chanakyapuri here under mysterious circumstances. Baalu B., a resident of Kerala, was posted in Delhi and was living alone in Nausena Bagh, Chanakyapuri, the police said.
“On the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, Baalu B. jumped from the eighth floor of a building in the residential complex for Navy personnel in Nausena Bagh,” a police official said.
Baalu was found lying in a pool of blood and was rushed to a nearby hospital, the officer said, adding that doctors declared him brought dead. Though the police has termed it to be a case of suicide, but sources said that Baalu was supposed to go home and even his luggage was found packed in his room.
The body was handed to his kin after the post-mortem examination.
“No suicide note has been recovered. It cannot be said what crossed his mind that he took the extreme step. Even his relatives are clueless. We are investigating the case from all possible angles,” said a police official.

Man shot at by bikers in Seelampur

A 37-year-old man in real estate business had a narrow escape when he was attacked by two bike-borne assailants who opened fire at him in Seelampur area of northeast Delhi on Thursday night.
The police said that the victim, identified as Mahendra Chand Ramhola, was at a construction site when he was attacked by Asif and Raees Khan.
“The accused had helped the police in nabbing both the criminals in the recent past. They had threatened the victim of dire consequence. The accused came with their associates and opened fire at the victim in a bid to kill him. The victim escaped and hid himself in the basement,” said the police official adding that they were looking into the matter.
