NDMC bill is tabled in Lok Sabha
The amendment bill aimed at giving more say to the local representatives in the New Delhi Municipal Council was on Tuesday tabled in the Lok Sabha.
The bill, introduced by the minister of state for home M. Ramachandran, seeks to give the Member of Parliament, representing the constituency falling under the NDMC j

In this particular case, the minister of state for home (internal security) Ajay Maken, who also represents the New Delhi constituency, will get the voting rights. Also the number of members in the bill would be increasing from 11 to 12, besides raising the number of representatives representing scheduled castes from one to two.
The bill also provides that Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, who represents New Delhi Assembly constituency, will chair the council meetings. In her absence, the MP representing New Delhi constituency, if he is a minister, will chair the meetings.
