NDMC feat in IIM-B curriculum soon
The feat of North Delhi Municipal Corporation medical college starting in a record time of six months will be included as a chapter on innovative project management in the curriculum at IIM Bengaluru.
Additional commissioner in NDMC Mayank Sharma, the project in charge of the medical college, said that innovative concepts resulted into completion of the project in six months and at an expenditure less than `7 crores.
“The corporation had approved the proposal last November and the entire infrastructure was ready by May this year. The medical college also managed to obtain nod of the Medical Council of India in the first go in July. Barring classrooms and laboratories, the entire infrastructure has been created by remodelling existing structures within the Hindu Rao Hospital premises,” he added.
The corporation was selected among three dozen applications from several countries on innovative projects.
“The selection of the NDMC’s medical college has primarily been made on the ground of low cost incurred in its execution. The cost was reduced to just `7 crores whereas it requires hundreds of crores to set up a new medical college. However, we managed to build the college by innovatively using the existing facilities.”
The NDMC is thinking of publishing the success story in international journals.
