NDMC man due to retire suspended

An NDMC executive engineer, who was incharge of two CWG projects — the Talkatora Indoor Stadium and the Shivaji Stadium Complex — has been placed under suspension just days before his retirement. The NDMC maintained that it was a technical requirement as a probe by the Central Vigilance Commission in this regard was going on.

The executive engineer, V.K. Gulati, a member of the NDMC’s civil engineering department, was set to retire by month-end but was placed under suspension on Thursday.
An NDMC official said that suspension was just a technical requirement and not an indictment of the official.
The two projects were worth Rs 150 crore and Rs 160 crore, respectively. The Shivaji Stadium project could not be completed in time for Games.
