Nigerian missing after hospital visit
A 57-year-old Nigeria national has gone missing after visiting a private hospital in Shalimar Bagh area of northwest Delhi where he was undergoing treatment.
A senior police official said that the family members of the missing Nigeria national, identified as Justin Okafor, told the police that he went missing on Friday evening after visiting Fortis Hospital.
According to information, Justin came to India in October last year for treatment. He had brain tumour.
Speaking to this newspaper, Justin’s brother Charles said he was at the hospital on Friday. “He went to the hospital and did not return. We have informed the police,” said Charles.
Meanwhile, the hospital authority contacted this correspondent and said that Justin visited OPD for an enquiry about his treatment. He visited physiotherapy centre and then left the hospital.
“He was not an admitted patient of the hospital, he only came for the inquiry. He was mentally retired and his family members should have not let him go out of the house,” said an official of the hospital who refused to be named.
The official added that Justin Okafor was undergoing follow-up treatment post discharge on January 1, 2013. He was an OPD patient and was not staying at the hospital. He last came to the hospital for a physiotherapy session on August 16, 2013, and left at 5 pm after the session. As per the camera records of the hospital, he was seen leaving the hospital premises at 5.05 pm.
The police said it was investigating the matter.
