‘No other agency to quiz Kazmi’
In the wake of the allegations by Israeli diplomat car bomb attack case accused Syed Mohammed Ahmad Kazmi that is he being made a “guinea pig” by the Delhi police, a city court directed that no other investigation agency be permitted to interrogate the accused except the agency “to whom his remand has been granted.”
“This is expected that the special cell will not permit other investigating agencies to make the applicant (Kazmi) an experimental block,” chief metropolitan magistrate Vinod Yadav said.
“I further do not see any bar in the investigation agency sharing information of the interrogation of the applicant with the investigation of the other countries, particularly of Israel and Iran, as India is a signatory to the UN Convention of Prevention and Suppression of Terrorism (Implemen-tation of Security Council Resolution), 2007,” the chief metropolitan magistrate said,
While taking up the counsel’s application on behalf of the accused in regards to the interrogators not wearing “khaki uniform” during questioning, the court gave due consideration to the duty assigned to the special cell officials saying “ they are not required to wear khaki uniform”, but the officials are required to wear their “identification tags” even on plain clothes.
The court also rejected the appeal by the counsel for his personal presence with Kazmi during interrogation saying, “the case against the applicant is highly sensitive from national security point of view.”
