No stay on AIEEE result: HC
A division bench comprising Chief Justice of the Delhi high court Dipak Misra and Justice Sanjiv Khanna on Wednesday refused to stay the declaration of results of AIEEE exam which was mired in controversy following leakage of the question paper.
After hearing a bunch of petitions including two PILs, the court said, “Nearly 10 lakh students have appeared in the exam. We are not going to stay the publication of the result.”
In another decision, the division bench comprising Chief Justice of the Delhi high court Dipak Misra and Justice Sanjiv Khanna on Wednesday disposed off a PIL seeking preventive steps denying easy access of intoxicants to schoolchildren after the city government expressed its sensitivity on the issue.
Saying that there was no point in continuing with the hearing, as the court relied on the stand of the Delhi government which proposed an action plan on the issue.
Additional director (education), Sunita S. Kaushik, filed the reply saying “the department of education is alive to the issue and ready to curb the menace among schoolchildren and an action plan is being prepared.”
The government proposed to undertake awareness and preventive measures to curb the use of eraser fluid, naphthalene ball, petrol, diesel, thinner paint.
The court was hearing the PIL filed by a Delhi-based lawyer Sanjeev Sabharwal seeking the court’s direction to the government to take preventive steps to curb availability of certain items which are used by children for addiction by way of inhaling.
