Nursery forms will be sold till Jan. 15
The Directorate of Education has instructed schools to sell nursery forms till January 15. The DoE has reprimanded schools for closing admissions and going by first come first serve basis.
“It has been reported that some schools are adopting the policy of first come first serve basis, thereby restricting the period of availability of application forms for admission. It is hereby reiterated that school shall invariably make available the application forms up to January 15. Schools may also make the application form available on its website so that the parents can download and submit the same within stipulated period,” the circular said.
“Non-compliance of these directions shall amount to vitiation of admission process which may attract cancellation of the entire admission process,” was stated in the circular.
Meanwhile, the private schools across the capital are coming up with different criteria for admissions in the nursery class. While some schools are giving points for age, the others are giving points for play-school education.
Bal Bhawan Mayur Vihar is giving points for play-school education while Summerfields is giving points for age.
The single parents, especially divorced women, are confused over the point system. “According to the schools single parent only means widow or a widower. They don’t consider divorced women or those who have adopted a child as single parents,” Srija Maheswari, a mother said.
