OC plans gala for volunteers

The volunteers of the Commonwealth Games were in for a surprise on Saturday when they reached the organising committee office here to collect their certificates of participation. When they reached the office, they were also told that a big get together has been organised for their efforts. The OC officials said that the decision about the venue and the date was yet to be taken but the party would be organised. The entire batch of 20,000-odd volunteers would be invited at the party, said the official.

The certificates of participation have been signed by the Commonwealth Games Federation chief Mike Fennell, OC general secretary Lalit Bhanot and chairman Suresh Kalmadi.
