Officials told to provide details
The Delhi government on Thursday asked all its departments and the officials of the MCD and NDMC to prepare detailed reports of their spending on various Commonwealth Games projects undertaken by them. The government asked all the agencies to offer full cooperation to the probe agencies, including the CAG and CVC.
Delhi chief secretary Rakesh Mehta on Thursday held a meeting with senior officials of various departments of the city government, MCD and NDMC. However, sources revealed that the city government is preparing reports on 24 projects related to Games for which the Centre had given assistance of `2,800 crores.
Earlier, Delhi PWD minister Raj Kumar Chouhan had given a list of 77 projects linked with the Games.
The chief secretary reportedly briefed the officials about the procedures that need to be followed while extending support to the probe agencies. “All our records are clear. We have nothing to hide,” said a senior PWD official.
It is to be noted that the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) had requested the chief secretary to produce all details about Games spending by the Delhi government.
The CAG is also to continue with its separate auditing of all projects of the city government. Senior government officials said that they would like the CAG to examine the Games projects separately. The CAG, as part of its annual exercise, audits all spending of the city government, which is tabled in the Delhi Assembly later.
The CVC teams on the other hands are likely to focus their investigation on projects directly linked with Games, including those executed by the PWD, urban development, transport, environment, power and tourism departments.
It has been reported that the Delhi government had spent about `16,000 crores on Games-related projects.
