Over 50 shops gutted in fire at S. Delhi

A major fire broke out in a shopping complex under a flyover in Defence Colony in south Delhi on Friday morning. The fire broke out in a shop around 4.30 am, said fire officials.

“Around 30 fire tenders doused the blaze after a four-hour long operation. All the 58 shops under the flyover were gutted and losses worth crores of rupees are estimated,” said the official.
The cause of the blaze has not been established so far but an electrical short circuit may have triggered it. The police said a case has been registered and investigations are on.
