Over 7,300 pending cases cleared
The Special Lok Adalat which was organised on Sunday in all the six district court complexes — Tis Hazari, Patiala House, Rohini, Karkardooma, Dwarka and Rohini — in the city saw more than 7,300 pending cases relating to dishonouring of cheques getting disposed. A total of 63 benches were constituted for the Special Lok Adalat to deal with huge pendency of cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments (NI) Act, a DLSA official said.
In the special court sittings at all the six district court complexes, more than 7,300 pending cases of cheque dishonour and 67 cases at pre-litigation stage pertaining to banks and financial institutions were disposed of, he said.
The hearings at the Special Lok Adalat were presided by the judges of the district courts.
The Lok Adalat was organised under the able guidance of the Chief Justice of the Delhi high court Justice Dipak Misra, who is also the Patron-in-Chief of DLSA, and Justice Vikramajit Sen, the executive chairman of the DLSA, the official added.
