Pak man detained at Metro station
A Pakistani national, who is reportedly on a religious trip, was detained by Delhi police from the Rajouri Garden Metro Station after a woman passenger complained about his “suspicious” behaviour.
Police officials said Mohammed Ramzan, 35, a resident of Lahore, Pakis-tan, was allegedly clicking photographs inside Delhi Metro at around 2.30 pm on Monday when some passengers got “suspicious” and alerted the security staff.
Ramzan was handed over to a team of CISF and Delhi police and he was placed under detention.
“His passport and visa are valid. He is a member of Tablighi Jamaat and has arrived in Delhi with a group of people four days back. They were travelling around the city for sight-seeing. Nothing suspicious was recovered from him,” a senior police official said.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (railways), B.S. Gujjar said that Ramzan was being questioned by a joint team of Delhi police and central security agencies, “Once his interrogation is over, we will be able to share details of the case. So far, he has not been allowed to leave,” Mr Gujjar said.
Sources said Ramzan arrived in the capital along with 60 other Pakistanis for a religious trip and they were staying in guest houses in Paharganj. “A woman passenger complained that Ramzan was taking her pictures. However, no pictures were recovered from his camera,” the official said.
