Panel to preserve CWG heritage
Delhi government on Thursday constituted a committee headed by chief secretary Rakesh Mehta to coordinate efforts of various departments for the upkeep and maintenance of newly-created assets for the Commonwealth Games.
The committee has been asked to regularly monitor the newly-created infrastructure on a monthly basis. Chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday presided over a meeting on the issue to ensure upkeep of the Games assets.
It was also decided in the meeting that the chief secretary will take up the matter with the DMRC and Delhi police to take up cleanliness, upkeep and maintenance work in their areas. “The DMRC will particularly be asked to concentrate on cleaning areas underneath their pillars, whereas the Delhi police will be requested to remove disused traffic lights and traffic barriers,” the chief minister’s office said in a statement.
Ms Dikshit asked the agencies to undertake necessary repairs immediately on receiving information about any damage to infrastructure.
