Peak power demand at record high
Amid high levels of humidity, the peak power demand in the capital reached its highest this season so far on Thursday and was recorded at 4,720 MW. The mercury came below the 40 degree Celsius-mark and several areas experienced light showers towards the evening.
According to Delhi Transco Limited, the peak power demand of 4,720 MW was recorded at 4.10 pm. The earlier peak demand was 4,668 MW.
Though rain was reported from various parts of the city and adjoining areas, there was no respite from high levels of humidity. The Safdarjung meteorological station recorded the maximum humidity at 66 per cent and the minimum 42 per cent. The maximum temperature on Thursday was 38.2 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 30.1 degrees Celsius.
It is hoped that monsoon may advance over the next two to four days.
On Friday, the weather is likely to remain more or less the same. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 41 degrees and 31 degrees Celsius. There is also a possibility of thundershower accompanied with squall.
