Police arrests sacked driver

In less than 24 hours of seven persons of a family being murdered in Ghaziabad, the UP police succeeded in solving the case and arresting the man accused of being responsible for the killings.
ADG (law and order) Arun Kumar told reporters here on Thursday that Rahul Soni, 22, was arrested late on Wednesday night and blood stained clothes, along with looted jewellery, have been recovered from him.
The ADG said that Rahul had been working as a driver-cum-domestic help at the residence of the murdered businessman Satish Goel.
His services were terminated about 10 days ago when `4.5 lakhs went missing from the house and the family suspected Rahul’s involvement in the theft.
Rahul wanted to avenge the humiliation and planned the murders.
The ADG said that Rahul gained entry to the house by jumping over several roofs and reached the balcony of the businessman’s residence. He even injured his leg in the process.
“Rahul told the police that he waited for nearly an hour when he found that some members of Goel family, including children, were present on the terrace. When the children went downstairs, he first stabbed Rekha, the daughter-in-law, and then her daughter Megha. Sachin, the son, heard their cries and came up and Rahul stabbed him too,” the ADG said.
To ensure that Sachin was dead, Rahul slit his throat. Rahul then stabbed Goel and lastly his wife, before escaping with the jewellery, the ADG said.
It may be recalled that seven members of the family, including three minors, were murdered at their home in Nai Basti area. The deceased were Satish Chandra Goel, 65, his wife Manju, 62, son Sachin, 40, daughter in-law Rekha, 38, and grandchildren Megha, 13, Neha, 10, and Aman, 7.
The ADG said that the forensic team found a shoe print on the spot which would be matched with Rahul’s shoe, which has been recovered.
He said that the knife used in the multiple murders has also been found.
The ADG said that the investigating team was trying to find out if another person was also involved in the mass killings.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
