Police busts sex racket, 5 women held
Five foreign nationals have been arrested by the crime branch of Delhi police for allegedly running a sex racket in Lajpat Nagar area of southeast Delhi.
The five accused, operating from Lajpat Nagar since last six months, used to demand thousands of rupees from customers. Their pimp stays in Lajpat Nagar and the police claimed that she has customers all over the capital.
“The accused were living a luxurious life after coming on a tourist visa with a 2-6 months duration. When they go back, they purchase leather goods and garments as these fetch them a profit in their countries,” said DCP (crime), Ashok Chand.
A team of officers led by inspector Arti Sharma busted the racket on Wednesday following a tip-off. “A decoy customer was sent to the pimp who demanded `30,000 per night. One of our team members paid her `5,000 and she took him inside the premises following which a raid was conducted and the accused were arrested,” the DCP said.
“The pimp has been shifting her base in the capital frequently to avoid detection. She has been putting up at a rented accommodation in Lajpat Nagar-I which cost her more than `28,000 per month. Some girls stay with her and some stay in another rented accommodation at Jangpura Extension for `25,000 per month,” Mr Chand said.
