Police detains 4 in gangrape
The Delhi police has detained four suspects in connection with the gangrape of a girl from the northeast in Dhaula Kuan which took place last Wednesday.
The police claimed to have got “substantial leads” in the case and said that a breakthrough is expected very soon. “We have got some major leads in the case. 15 teams
of south Delhi police are working on these leads to develop information about the suspects. Some people are being questioned,” deputy commissioner of police (south), H.G.S. Dhaliwal said.
Top police sources said four suspects were picked up from different areas of Delhi after the call data records obtained from the cellular companies suggested that they were present in the area at the time of the crime last week on Wednesday. “We are questioning them for their involvement. Their movement appears suspicious and they are giving contradictory statements. We are verifying their antecedents but nothing concrete has emerged in the case so far,” the official said. The police investigators are checking the call data records of the cell phones which were operational around the area of the crime, and their owners are being called for questioning. The police has so far questioned 20 people in the case.
