Police gears up for traffic chaos
The Delhi traffic police has advised Delhiites not visiting IITF to avoid Mathura Road, Bhairon Marg, Ring Road, Shershah Road and Purana Qila Road. They may take alternative routes to avoid congestion.
“No vehicle will be allowed to halt or park anywhere on Mathura Road and Bhairon Marg. There will also be no parking by visitors at Sher Shah and Purana Qila Road. Any violation by any vehicle will be prosecuted. Improper parked vehicles will be towed away and U-turn on Mathura Road will be prohibited. Right turn from Mathura Road to Purana Qila road and Bhagwan Das Road will not be allowed,” DCP traffic Satyendra Garg said.
“People can visit trade fair by taking Metro train and alight at Pragati Maidan Metro station. Those using DTC buses for travelling from Delhi or NCR can alight at designated bus stops on Mathura Road and Bhairon Marg,” he added.
Those who want to drive their own vehicles to reach Pragati Maidan are advised to avail “Park and Ride” facility, especially provided for this purpose at two locations at Sunehri Pullah near Dayal Singh College on Lodhi Road and Ashpond behind Rajghat. From Park and Ride locations, there will be free DTC shuttles to ferry visitors to Pragati Maidan.
There is no parking available in the vicinity of Pragati Maidan. Pre-paid TSR facility will be available for visitors at Gate No. 9 on Mathura Road and Gate No. 2 on Bhairon Marg. Apart from that there will be no entry to trade fair after 4 pm on weekends and after 6 pm on weekdays. Tickets will be sold till 2 pm on weekends and till 4 pm on weekdays.
Entry to the fair will be restricted for business visitors from November 14-18. It will be open for general public from November 19-27, 2011.
Tickets can be bought at any Metro station in Delhi or NCR and can also be bought at Gate No. 1 and 2 of Pragati Maidan and Bhairon Marg. There is no sale of tickets for the fair anywhere else.
There will be Round Robin DTC shuttle connecting Pragati Maidan, IP Metro stations and gates of Pragati Maidan. People are advised not to touch unclaimed objects as these could be dangerous.
