Police remand for Khaire till Nov. 24

Ulhas Prabhakar Khaire, an accused arrested by the Delhi police for allegedly siphoning approximately `500 crores from investors through financial consultancy company “Stock Guru India”, has been remaded in police custody till November 24.

However, his wife Raksha J. Urs has been sent to judicial custody. Meanwhile, Ulhas’s mother has moved an application seeking custody of Khaire’s two minor children after they were brought to Delhi along with the accused persons.
The police had sought the custody of Ulhas before additional chief metropolitan magistrate Pulastya Pramachala saying that they need total 77 hours to travel to various places, like Goa, Ratnagiri, Dehra Dun and other cities, to find documental evidences. Apart from this, further investigation is needed to find out the names of their accomplices and various other companies the couple have floated to cheat people.
However, the court has sent Raksha, alias Priyanka, a co-accused and the wife of Ulhas, to 14-day judicial custody after the police said she is no longer required for the interrogation and also granted permission to keep her eight-month-old child with her in jail.
Meanwhile, Ulhas’s mother has moved the court seeking custody of his other two minor children. Responding to the application moved by Udhas’s mother, the court said, “This court has no jurisdiction to decide the custody of these two children, therefore, same is maintained as it is, with direction to Smt Kamal (grandmother of children) to appear before the Child Welfare Committee as constituted under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000 at Nagpur, Maharashtra.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
