‘Poll conduct violations by ABVP, NSUI were ignored’
Shortly after the result of Dusu election were declared, in which ABVP bagged the top three posts, AISA accused the university administration for not taking any action against NSUI-ABVP for violating many election norms.
“The elections have exposed the university administrations compliance with the illogical and unethical campaigning of NSUI-ABVP. Despite numerous complaints from students and teachers regarding violation of all the kinds of Dusu conduct, and notices being sent to their candidates no action had been taken. The partisan nature of election officer and DU administration had emboldened the NSUI-ABVP to get thousands of outsiders, use printed campaign materials, throwing more rain dance parties in all the college, beat up the dissenters etc. The administration, in order to have a docile union, turned completely blind towards such illegal activities,” it said.
The AISA also claimed that the votes of NSUI and ABVP remained stagnant while its vote share increased tremendously.
“Every vote to us was a vote against such politics and also against four year undergraduate programme (FYUP). By looking at the response that we got we can dare say that the ABVP-NSUI could not have won if the elections would have been fair and as per Regulations. The voting also reflects that people wish to see that the money-muscle politics to be ousted from DU and FYUP rolled back. AISA’s initiatives on these questions shall intensify on these fronts in coming days. We shall also see how far does ABVP fight against FYUP as it claimed during elections in the press,” the party spokesperson said.
