Present CAG official in school loss cases: Court

The Delhi high court on Tuesday sought the presence of an official of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and asked him to clarify certain findings of the report which indicted 25 private schools for accounting malpractice, including faking loss.

Earlier, the CAG in its 64-page report had said that “the schools did not follow the accounting standards while preparing their final accounts. There was no prescribed accounting format.”
The report dealt with the accounts of 25 schools, including DPS, R.K. Puram, Modern School, Barakhamba Road, and Amity International.
After going through the CAG report, a division bench comprising Justices A.K. Sikri and Sidhharth Mridul said, “Ask the author of the report, Rajvir Singh, accountant general (audit) of the CAG, to appear and clarify the objections raised by the counsel for the schools on the report.”
The bench asked the CAG official to appear on April 8 when the counsel for private schools would start advancing the remaining arguments on the issue.
