Private bus runs over women; 1 dies, 4 injured

A Gujarati woman tourist was killed and four other sustained injuries in a freak accident near Lotus Temple in south east Delhi’s Kalkaji area on Wednesday evening.

The police said the deceased has been identified as Jayshree while her sister and three bikers sustained injuries in the incident which took place at around 7.30 pm when a tourist bus, allegedly driven by the helper, was taking a turn near the Lotus Temple.
“The bus bearing UP registration number was reversing when the two women came under the vehicle and were critically injured. The vehicle then ran over three bikers injuring them as well before it was stopped by the accused helper,” a senior police official said.
Following the accident, a huge crowd gathered at the spot and a call was made to the PCR. The victims were taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where Jayshree was declared brought dead while the condition of other injured is stated to be stable.
In the meantime, the bus driver along with the helper abandoned their vehicle and managed to escape.
