Probe panel gets 6-month extension
The tenure of the one-man inquiry commission of retired Delhi HC judge Justice Lokeshwar Prasad, which was to submit report in the Lalita Park building collapse incident by February 22, has been extended by six months. At least 71 people had died and several were injured in the incident on November 15, 2010, in Lalita Park area of east Delhi.
A notification in this regard has reportedly been issued by the lieutenant-governor office. The commission was to look into the issues like determining the circumstances and sequence of events leading to the building collapse, determining the number of victims; administrative, procedural, and statutory lapses, and fixing responsibility for the collapse, besides few other issues. The commission was supposed to submit its report within 90 days, the tenure coming to an end on February 22.
