Pvt schools to hike fees for EWS quota
The private schools in the capital have indicated that they will raise the fees to compensate the financial burden in the wake of reserving seats for the Economically Weaker Section students.
Talking to reporters, Action Committee for Unaided Schools president S.K. Bhattacharya said, “The private schools will have to raise 20 to 40 per cent fee to compensate the financial burden imposed due to reservation of EWS seats”.
He further said that there is a stark difference between the facilities of private schools and government schools for which the government is not ready to pay the full amount. “The government will pay the private schools as per the expenditure on a child in government schools which is far less than that in the private schools,” he said.
The representatives of the schools management opined that the unaided schools should have been spared from the EWS quota. The hearing on the matter of reimbursement for EWS seats is scheduled for January 7.
