Quash V.K. Singh bail: Tejinder
Lt. Gen. Tejinder Singh (Retd) on Thursday sought quashing of bail granted to former Army Chief Gen. V.K. Singh, who is facing criminal defamation charges in a bribery case, in a Delhi court, which reserved its order till October 3.
Tejinder moved the plea before metropolitan magistrate Jay Thareja, saying Gen. Singh had repeatedly made “false and defamatory” allegations against him on TV channels, and used intemperate language, even calling him “insane.”
Tejinder’s counsel Anil Aggarwal told the court that the former Army Chief had given an interview to a news channel where he had accused his client of “trying to influence CBI investigation,” and repeated the same on another channel.
“V.K. Singh had also said that my client was involved in sinister and anti-national activity to demean the Indian Army,” Mr Aggarwal said.
The counsel claimed that V.K. Singh had also cast certain aspersions on the court that should be treated as “contempt of court” and these were enough grounds to cancel his bail.
Opposing the plea, Vishwajeet Singh, counsel for V.K. Singh, said he had already advised his client not to take any names.
