Qutub-Gurgaon line to open June 21
The Delhi Metro will throw open the Qutub Minar-Gurgaon line on June 21. The long-awaited inaugural of the stretch will clear way for the Qutub Minar-Central Secretariat stretch of the Gurgaon metro line.
The line will not be formally inaugurated as the trial runs were launched with much fanfare. The Metro services will start from 8 am from Monday and the formal inauguration will be done only in July when the complete line will be inaugurated.
Initially, five trains will be put on this stretch that will run at a frequency of 12 minutes. The commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) R.K. Kardam gave the mandatory no-objection certificate for the opening of the line after his two-day inspection last week. Gurgaon will become the second satellite city to get metro connectivity after Noida. The ten stations on this elevated section are Qutub Minar, Chhattarpur, Sultanpur, Ghitorni, Arjangarh, Guru Dronacharya, Sikanderpur, MG Road, IFFCO Chowk and HUDA city centre. The Chattarpur station will be opened for public by August as the construction work of the station got delayed due to non-availability of land till October last year. The remaining part of the corridor is to be opened by the end of July.
