Rains in Delhi, more likely
The weekend began on a pleasant note for Delhiites with rains lashing parts of the capital on Saturday morning — though they also spelt traffic woes for commuters. The weatherman predicts more showers later in the day.
“The day is likely to remain cloudy with one or two spells of rain later in the evening,” said an official from India Meteorological Department (IMD). Though the 7.2 mm of rainfall brought down the temperature to 26.9 degrees Celsius, it added to the traffic woes of commuters. “Rains have always brought trouble for the busy stretch at ITO. So I left an hour earlier today to reach my office at 8 00 am,” said Shweta Rao, a media professional who lives in Rohini. According to the Delhi traffic department, traffic snarls were reported from Ring Road, Laxmi Nagar in east Delhi, South Extension, and ITO.
“The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 32 and 27 degrees Celsius,” added the official. Humidity was recorded at 92 per cent. On Friday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34.6 degrees Celsius — two degrees above average.
