Ramjas allows students to pay fee with debit card
Acting on complaints of some students, the Delhi University on Friday instructed colleges that students be given admission on the basis of provisional marksheets. Meanwhile, some colleges have allowed payment of fee by debit cards.
After reports of students’ grievances pertaining to some colleges not taking provisional marksheets into consideration, the Delhi University has issued instructions to the colleges that the students bringing provisional marksheets are not turned away.
On the first day of admission, many colleges, including Kirorimal, were not accepting provisional marksheets. Dean of Students’ Welfare, Prof. J.M. Khurana said, “The students from UP, Haryana, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya boards who have not got their marksheets will be given admission on the basis of downloaded marksheet attested by the principal. College may tally the marks form the CD given by the school boards. They will have to sign an undertaking that they will submit the marksheet within 10 days of admission.”
Meanwhile, Ramjas College has made payment of fee a cashless transaction. “It’s time consuming for staff to count cash. So, we thought why not allow payment of fee through debit card. Moreover, debit cards are popular these days and everybody has it,” principal Dr Rajendra Prasad said.
